Each spring and early summer, the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife (ODFW) releases thousands of hatchery-raised trout into lakes, ponds, and other public waters across Oregon — including in the famed Southern Oregon Coast zone. These stockings create excellent opportunities for family fishing trips, weekend outings, and trophy trout hunts. Trout stocking schedules are published online and list the week a waterbody is expected to be stocked (the week starting on Monday), not exact days.

Devils Lake is a relatively shallow lake with abundant aquatic vegetation, submerged structure, docks, and residential shoreline. It warms up quickly in spring and summer, which makes it excellent for bass and panfish but also means trout fishing is best earlier in the year.

The waterfall itself flows from a small creek that drops over the cliffs at the north end of the beach. During rainy seasons, especially fall and winter, the cascade can be surprisingly strong. In late summer, it often becomes a lighter, delicate ribbon of water.
